I have had this cooktop since 2/13/26. The very WORST feature of the cooktop is the "safety feature" (to sense if a pan has been overheated) spring-loaded button in the center of each burner. The tension of the springs varies a great deal from burner to burner. Some are so strong that they tilt a pan to the side so that it does notsit flat on the burner and heats evenly. I have spent quite a bit of time learning to adjust my pans on each burner so that the handles will offset the uneven pan. I find this "safety feature" to be EXTREMELY FRUSTRATING. I have done some research and there is evidently no way to remove them or to adjust them.
I will also say that it takes some practice to learn the heating times and intensity for the burners. In my experience, each is a little bit different. I can certainly adjust to that with further use, but again, rather frustrating.
I am giving this 2 stars because it does actually work, but having spent over $700 for this cooktop ,I can only say that I am extremely disappointed.

My cooktop was installed on1/30/26. (Coil Cooktop) I am concerned as one element already not working. A service call set up for 10 days from now - but I also have questions as it seems sometimes it works and sometimes does not. Obviously I need to trust my cooktop will work and am concerned and wanted to talk with someone. Website indicates a number to call - but no option to talk with an actual person. My questions are not yes or no. I've read the manual with no information concerning my issue. The video you sent was not helpful. Although I've always been pleased with your products, I am now concerned. I'm sitting on Chat for waiting on an agent to contact me - for over 10 minutes. So, it's hard to really rate the product this soon so my rating is low until I am able to resolve my issue.

My old cooktop worked better than the one I bought. There are no numbers indicating temperature of the units. My cookware does not sit evenly on the coils. It doesn't get hot enough to make some of the food I like to make for my family.

I bought our stove top several years ago to replace our old glass top stove. The first thing I noticed was that as I was cooking the product I was cooking was NOT cooking well. The burners would heat up, but then cool off right away. Each plug-in coil surface element (burner) has a medallion with a button (sensor) in the center of the coil. This button must contact the bottom of the cookware for the Sensi-Temp Technology to sense the temperature properly. When I investigated I found all the burners have these SENSORS in the middle of them. After reading up on them I decided these were USELESS ! So I went right out and purchased a NEW set of burners WITHOUT these sensors and replaced all of the cooking coils ! What a difference they made ! Cooking with ease now !

We replaced a glass cooktop with the traditional coil type, and are so very pleased with the change! The burners heat up faster than the glass cooktop, and the heat sensors are a delight... they ring like bells! It's so much fun to cook with this thing. We also love that the drip pans don't have holes in the middle (I have a tendency to overboil). Clean up is a breeze!

I™™ve been using my stovetop for about a week. It heats up quickly however, I™™m not a fan of the sensors! You never know when you™™re going to lose the heat setting while cooking, then if your pots aren™™t heavy enough to hold the sensor down you have nothing. So I would say it™™s a blessing and a curse because of the SENSORS.

IF you try to cook on high for any length of time, the unit will shut down. Not the manufacturers' fault, blame the government and their regulations. Takes just a little longer to boil water but I find myself cooking on lower temperatures with this cooktop than I did with the old one, Not a great cooktop, but not a bad one either.

I've had this a year now and it is junk. The knob position means nothing, it's either on high or not even hot enough to keep anything warm... but, low can mean high. Doesn't matter it'll sometimes heat to full heat while it's on low. I have to stand there and constantly watch the cooktop to make sure it doesn't burn my food out cook it way too quickly. The coils that come with this top are junk too. They cause skillets to lean to the handle of they're not heavy enough to keep the spring mashed down.
I know this cooktop is a bargain bin level priced appliance, but I did not want a glass top and this was basically my only choice. I wish that I'd just had my 40 year old Jenn-Air repaired, this new stuff being built is trash.

Though the dimensions were the same as my old Whirlpool cooktop; the drop in pan was a DIFFERENT size, the electric cable had a 90* neck on it, and with the drop pan attached to the countertop the cooktop did not sit down to attach in the existing hole in burner areas.
Many adjustments had to be made!
So far I'm very pleased with the performance of the cooktop.

Even with the realization that the electric coil style of cooktops is on its way out, I was still surprised at how cheap this unit is. The coils have only one tab instead of the traditional three to hold them in place over the metal bowls, resulting in them moving around. A mysterious button in the middle of each burner had no explanation in the included instructions, and online comments I found were answered by a rep with "call our customer service number" rather than just answering the complaint (undoubtedly an AI response). These buttons cause the pans to sit lopsided instead of flat on the coils. The control knobs have no numbers, which makes it hard to learn the intensity levels when operating. Knobs need to be turned at least halfway to get any heat going, and then suddenly it's too intense. I look forward to Whirlpool's AI response to this.

I am so disappointed with this product. It is so hard to cook vegetable with it, after it heat a while then it will cool down for minutes so the vegetable will turn to brown colore with low heat cooking. The sensor that keep the heat not over too hot cause this problem. Definitely it is not for Chinese cooking.

I purchased this about a year ago and will always be sorry. The burners has some sort of a spring that pops up above the burners in th emiddle of the burner. My skilet lops to one side on this contraption and all oil runs to the side of the skilett. I complained to the company right away and they sent me 4 new burners which didn't help at all. they are made the same woith th same results. Who wants a cooktop that our utensils sits lopsided on the burner? I wouldn't even give it a 1 stat

Did you find yourself frustrated when trying to find a reliable coil element cook top? We recently did a partial kitchen remodel and needed to replace our old JennAire model. After researching possible replacements, we were very disappointed to only find two companies still manufacture the coil element cook tops. Finding that the glass tops are not ideal for canning, and not wanting to change to gas, our options were few. We read many reviews on what was available. Since the element update to burner sensors, we were discouraged and not sure what to purchase, as there were so many negatives expressed by those who had purchased this Whirlpool model, which does have the sensors.
Having grown up with coil elements, we were familiar with what we wanted. We have canned for years and have a large garden, which amounts to canning more than 200 quarts of produce annually. So, we are not beginners, as are many who just started doing it during Covid. With the increased numbers of those who now do it, it would seem that manufacturers would realize this and more of them would produce products to satisfy a growing demand.
Because there is a need to get the word out, I decided to write this review. There are ways to make your life easier. We turned to the internet to try to find a way to circumvent the sensors, since we did not need to be protected from ourselves. There is a YouTube site that will explain how to do this. You will have to research that for yourselves, as once this is written the site that we used might no longer be available. Also, be aware that you do this at your own risk, as we are sure that the company would not recommend it.
And, not being affiliated with the following company, there are alternative coil elements also available. Range Kleen makes a cook top canning kit for the large burners. It is currently Style A, item #102AM7383. And, if you are looking for black drip bowls to fit this cooktop, they also have item #P10124XN. I took the item numbers directly off the packages.
Hopefully, this review provides some help to those of you who have been struggling with these same issues. And, yes, we would recommend this cook top, with the above changes. Happy preserving.

finally got unit, installed and immediately discovered that 1) burners have a device in the center of the coil that limits high heat time 2) drip pans are too small for the cooktop burner opening making the heating coils move around when using/cooking/stirring - a very dangerous splash hazard with hot oils, boiling water, sautÃing etc. 3) coils and heat limit device in the coil discolored with 1st use 4) customer service & "lead" refused to allow us to return this unit, citing some 'mice-type' new/unused condition disclaimer - never shown during purchase/checkout. How else do you know if the unit is what you ordered and works the way it should? Very rude, very 'too bad' attitude - not the Whirlpool we're used to dealing with over the last 50-60 years. Shame on Whirlpool.

Not very happy with it. Not sure if other brands are the same, but isn™™t a product I would promote without warning people of these issues. By the way I have been cooking for 60 years.

I have used this rangetop for about a month. It heats quickly but has too many safety features to limit the heat output. Sometimes you need a burner to continue with high heat and these reduce heat automatically and make it difficult to create some recipes. Should have switched to propane instead of getting the electric.

The stove goes off and on after a few minutes. The heat reduces automatically when boil begins on all four eyes. I'm having a very hard time using it the coils keep turning off every 2 minutes and then i have to reset and turn back on. Not recommend to buy this.

This is a replacement electric coil cooktop for my glass electric cooktop which was very hard to clean and scratches easily. This cooktop provides a clean, elegant look to my kitchen, easy to operate and clean. It fitted nicely to my countertop opening that™™s why no modifications were made when it was installed. This is my first Whirlpool electric coil cooktop and so far, I haven™™t had any problems with the 4 burners. I really prefer electric coil cooktops over glass/ceramic or gas cooktops that™™s why I hope appliance manufacturers won™™t stop making them.

when I bought it it was the only choice I had for coil burners and I tried to get a down draft like my old Jenn air but all came up the back which limits my coils when canning with my big canners. we had to have a builder put it in as it was a little smaller also so he put a stainless steel rim around it the stove it self works fine cleans nice also

This is the worse cooktop! Do not buy! Takes 30 minutes to boil water. The coils been replaced 3 times in 2 years. Item purchased 2-11-20. Problems from the start was told service man had to check it out 3 or 4 times. It should have been replaced then while it was under warranty. They allowed the warranty to expire and now they say it™™s my problem. I™™m having to purchase another cooktop in 2 years. Only one coil works now. Food cools down while frying food soaking up the grease! Buyer beware! I™™m totally disgusted!!!

Hate it, second one we've purchased in 2 years, was told since the first ones warranty had expired it would be as cheap to just buy another new one. Same problem, need to be at higher heat, just cuts down to nothing. Have to keep switching pan to different burner back and forth.

No phone call from delivery company or Whirlpool to let me know it was on the wrong truck. I had to call after my delivery window passed to find out I was not receiving it for another 2 days. Customer service told me they would give me a 50.00 credit for my troubles. Still haven™™t received that either. I had that delivered on my wife™™s anniversary and took the day off from work, plus paid an electrician to be here to install it, to surprise my wife when she got out of work. Do you think a 50.00 Credit covers that ??? What a joke. !!!

I would give this zero stars if I could. This cooktop has a "safety" feature in it that keeps the burner from remaining on high heat for more than a few minutes at a time. Trying to cook a large pot of pasta or potatoes is a joke. It takes forever to heat the water to boiling because it constantly cools down so I am forced to turn the burner off and turn it back to high to get it to heat up again. I have owned this cooktop for just over 2 months now and I absolutely hate it. I cook every single night and this cooktop has turned making dinner into such a long chore. I never know how long it will take to cook something since the burner consistently lowers the heat. This is my first and only Whirlpool purchase as I'm so disappointed in this product. I will likely be replacing it but not with a Whirlpool cooktop! Do yourself a favor and avoid this product at all costs. And shame on Whirlpool for still manufacturing such a horrible product!
